About Us

Equipping Therapists and Professionals for Safer, Stronger Practice

At Action4Families, we offer professional counselling and safeguarding training for those working with children, young people, and families. Our training is practical, reflective, and trauma-informed, helping professionals build confidence, knowledge, and safer ways of working.

We provide training across areas such as safeguarding, trauma, attachment, child development, emotional wellbeing, neurodiversity, and strengthening therapeutic practice. Our aim is to help professionals deepen their understanding and feel more equipped in their roles.

Our courses are suitable for counsellors, therapists, teachers, pastoral staff, family support workers, safeguarding leads, and anyone working closely with children, young people, or families. Training can be delivered both in person and online, depending on the needs of the organisation or group.

Our training is designed to be engaging, supportive, and directly relevant to real-life practice. We understand that professionals often need more than information alone, which is why our courses also encourage reflection, discussion, and practical application.

Alongside core safeguarding training, we also offer specialist courses for therapists working with children and young people. These courses help practitioners strengthen their confidence, develop new skills, and respond more effectively to the needs of the people they support.

We also provide training tailored to schools, organisations, and community settings, helping teams create safer, more trauma-informed environments. Our aim is to support professionals not only to increase their knowledge, but also to feel more confident, reflective, and effective in their work.

Complex Safeguarding in Therapeutic Practice

This specialist course is designed for counsellors, therapists, and professionals working with children and young people who may be navigating complex safeguarding concerns within their work.

The training explores how to recognise and respond to issues such as trauma, abuse, neglect, exploitation, domestic abuse, self-harm, suicidal ideation, harmful sexual behaviour, online risks, contextual safeguarding, and professional uncertainty. It also looks at the emotional impact that safeguarding work can have on practitioners.

Our approach goes beyond procedures alone, focusing on professional curiosity, reflective practice, ethical decision-making, and understanding the difference between facts, feelings, and interpretation. We help practitioners feel more confident in holding complexity, responding safely, and making thoughtful decisions in situations where there may not be clear or immediate answers.

The course is trauma-informed, practical, and grounded in real-life therapeutic practice, helping professionals feel more supported, skilled, and equipped in their safeguarding role.
