Adult life can be challenging. Anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, bereavement, trauma, parenting pressures, and past experiences can all affect how we cope, relate to others, and feel about ourselves.
At Action4Families, we offer a warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach to adult counselling. We provide a safe, supportive, and confidential space where you can talk openly, explore your experiences, and begin to make sense of the difficulties you may be facing. Services are offered across Derbyshire and online.
We understand that reaching out for support can feel difficult, which is why we aim to make the process as welcoming and accessible as possible. Our approach is gentle, relational, and tailored to your individual needs, helping you feel listened to, understood, and supported.
We understand that current struggles are often connected to earlier experiences, relationships, and unmet emotional needs. Together, we can explore the roots of these challenges, helping you gain greater understanding, build resilience, strengthen relationships, and move towards lasting change.
Our approach draws on psychology, neuroscience, attachment theory, and relational practice, recognising that healing often happens when people feel heard, understood, and supported.
We offer a free initial assessment call, after which you will be matched with a counsellor who has the right training and experience for your needs. Sessions are available both in-person across the Derby area and online, with accessible pricing to help make support available to more people.
Action4Families offers counselling placements for trainee counsellors and therapists looking to build confidence, develop professional skills, and gain valuable placement hours within a supportive, ethical, and trauma-informed environment.
Counselling placements may be available in schools, community settings, or online, depending on your stage of training and placement requirements. Placement students may have opportunities to work with adults, young people, parents, and families across a range of settings.
Students benefit from regular supervision, safeguarding guidance, reflective practice, and ongoing support to help them work safely, ethically, and confidently. All placement students are carefully vetted and supported throughout their placement.
Our counselling and therapy placements are designed to help trainees gain meaningful experience, strengthen their practice, and make a positive difference to the people and communities they support.
